Robert F. Zampogna

Robert F. Zampogna, 81, formerly of Hermitage, PA, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Monday evening, May 4, 2026, at Treemont on the Park, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Mr. Zampogna was born July 13, 1944, in Bradford, PA, a son of the late Dominic and Josephine (Haynes) Zampogna. In 1962, he graduated from West Forest High School, and in 1966, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Gannon University, Erie, PA. He later completed a master’s degree in business administration at Baldwin Wallace University, Berea, OH.

From 1966 to 1968, Robert honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was at the Khe Sanh Siege in 1968.

For many years, he worked as an accountant at Thomas & Betts, Mercer, PA, retiring in 2005.

Robert was a longtime member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.

A talented dancer, he participated in Y-Dance, USA Dance, and was a member of the Senior Follies. Robert was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Florida Panthers fan who enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, and traveling. His greatest joy came from time spent with family, especially his grandkids.

His beloved wife of nearly 26 years, Gainor Ellen (Gussman) Zampogna, whom he married October 9, 1971, preceded him in death on June 17, 1997. In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Zampogna.

Robert is survived by a son, Nathan Zampogna (Marjorie), Hermitage, PA; a daughter, Angela Johnson (Eric), Coral Springs, FL; two brothers, Joseph Zamogna (Valerie), Harborcreek, PA, and Michael Zampogna, Boulder Creek, CO; two granddaughters, Skylar Skupien (Ryan) and Laynee Johnson; and two grandsons, Brendan and Liam Zampogna.
