January 11, 1942 – December 16, 2019

Charles Gene Tiffie was born to Clifford and Viola Tiffie in Soper, Oklahoma on the 11th of January in 1942 and attended school in Borger, Texas. After school Charlie became a world-class roller hockey player, winning National Defensive player of the year in 1961.

With the outbreak of the Vietnam War, Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Navy as one of their famed Seabees and spent two years in such infamous places as Chu Lia, Da Nang & Khe Sanh.

In between tours he met Rosemary Harth, who before his return to Vietnam, became his wife. After returning from Vietnam and discharging from the Navy, Charlie and Rosemary had their first son Christopher in 1968, their second child, Cliff in 1972, and their twins Colin and Calvin in 1977. Charlie moved his family to Durant in 1986 where he established deep roots and life-long friendships that left everyone involved enamored with his wit and larger than life personality. He was active in local veterans’ groups and a jovial light for a multitude of Bryan County residents. He is survived by his wife, sons, 7 grandchildren, and those whose lives he touched.
