James A. Thorsen

August 16th, 1947 – February 11, 2024

James Alan Thorsen, 76, of Duluth MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 11th, 2024. He was born on August 16th, 1947, in Duluth, MN to Lloyd and Eleanor Thorsen. Jim married Doris Watten on August 18th, 1973, in Duluth, MN. Jim served in the US Marine Corp from 1966 until 1972, including serving in Vietnam at the Battle of Khe Sanh. He was awarded many honors including, a Presidential Unit Citation and a Purple Heart for his service in the US Marine Corps. Jim also served as a Sergeant Troop Leader at Camp Pendleton. He returned to Duluth and pursued an education in engineering and architecture. He worked for MN Power in Facilities Management for 27 years. He volunteered for the VA DAV driving veterans to and from MPLS. He enjoyed being with friends and family, especially his granddaughter, Milly. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Roger. He is survived by his wife Doris, daughter Sara (Ben) Schoenbauer, and granddaughter Milly.
