Harold Revis Stanford III

Harold Revis Stanford III was born June 18, 1946 in Santa Barbara, California to Harold Revis Stanford, Jr. and Dorothy Louise Swedling. He passed on August 31, 2018.
Revis was a highly decorated Marine having received four bronze stars, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palms, Good Conduct medal, and the Purple Heart. He spent ten months in Vietnam during the Vietnam War as a mortar crewman in the U.S. Marines 2nd Battalion 9th Marines 1967- 68. He fought in seventeen battles including the longest, deadliest, and most controversial battle of the Vietnam War: the 1968 Battle of Khe Sanh.
Stanford spent his career as an auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner working for Civil Service, Phillips Oil Company, and HUD.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grove and active in the Grove Rotary Club.
Stanford was proceeded in death by his parents and his beloved uncle David Swedling. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Cheryl Stanford; his children, Courtney Stanford Gucci, Colorado, and Christopher Todd Stanford, Alaska; and four grandchildren; two stepchildren, Rev. Dr. E. Scott Jones, Nebraska and Kelli Jones Adams, Oklahoma; and three step grandsons; his sister and brother in law, Judy Stanford Hagen and Robert Hagen, Texas; and multiple nieces, nephews, and family members.
