Rolf John Skjei

December 26, 1946 – October 4, 2021

Rolf John Skjei was born to Elizabeth and Larry Skjei on December 26th, 1946, the third of five children. He passed from this physical life on October 4th, 2021. Rolf spent his youth growing up in the Kenwood neighborhood surrounded by friends. In 1967 Rolf was drafted into the U.S. Army. After boot camp he was sent to Vietnam where he was wounded during the Tet Offence near Khe Sanh. He returned to the United States and finished his tour of duty at Fort Riley, Kansas. In 1977 Rolf and Janet Skjei were married. They enjoyed living their lives together and shared their life with numerous cats and dogs. Rolf was a talented photographer, an avid fisherman, lover of the outdoors and music. He is survived by his wife Janet (Knock) Skjei; sisters Patricia (Jim) Thompkins, Michele Rechelbacher (Mike Shahane), Cynthia Skjei and Martha (Chuck) Miller; nieces, nephews, cousins, Janet’s brother Bill Knock, sister Judy Graves and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his daughter-in-spirit Barbara (Ted) Sinkkonen; grandchildren Maxxton (Ashley), Ascher, Parker, Lleyton, and great-grandson Ahti. Last but never least, he is also survived by many lifelong friends that enriched his life. Rolf considered them to be his family by choice.
