Harold Elvin Rosson, Jr.

Harold Elvin Rosson, Jr., 76, of Hamilton, passed away at his home Sunday morning, December 8, 2024.

Harold was born April 9, 1948, the son of Harold Elvin and Barbara Jean (Brown) Rosson, Sr., in Normandy, Missouri. After graduating from high school, he went to work as a design engineer for McDonnell Douglas. Mr. Rosson served in the Marine Corps from May of 1967 until he retired in April of 1971 after receiving the Purple Heart award. He served with the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines (The Walking Dead.) He served at Con Thien in ‘67, A Shau Valley in both ‘67 and ‘68 and was wounded at Khe Sanh on February 23, 1968. He farmed upon his return home and then owned and operated Supreme Swine in Elvaston for 44 years. Harold remained active in the Keokuk American Legion Post 41, the V.F.W. and Hancock County Honor Guard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and enjoyed tournaments for 20 years. In 2007 he was united in marriage to Andrea Pierson in Miami, Oklahoma.

Harold is survived by his wife, Andrea, of Hamilton; sons, Scott (Amie) Rosson of Nauvoo and Randy (Kim) Rosson of Weldon Spring, Missouri; daughters, Melia (Jesse) Moore and Stephanie (Kerry) Bitner, both of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Stephen A. (Michelle) Rosson of Highland City, IL and Mike (Nicholle) Rosson of Wentzville, MO; and a sister, Cindie Johnson of St. Louis.

He was preceded death by his parents; and his grandparents, Calloway Elvin and Isabel (Cashion) Rosson.
