Thomas N. “Tom” Quigley

Thomas “Tom” N. Quigley, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born August 11, 1948, in Springfield, the son of William and Besse Perrine Quigley. He married Nancy L. Lamb on April 12, 1980 and she survives.
Also surviving are his two children: son, Shane Quigley and daughter, Erin (Jacob) Parsons, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Julia, Autumn and Carlin; and a “bonus” grandson, Arlo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Quigley.
Tom enlisted in the Marine Corps in March 1966 and served a tour in Vietnam from June, 1967 to March 30, 1968. He was honorably discharged in June 1969, with the rank of Sergeant. In 2010, Tom had the opportunity to participate in a documentary, Bravo: Common Men, Uncommon Valor”, in which he was interviewed about his experiences in Vietnam and the siege of Khe Sanh.
Tom was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He belonged to First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Purple Heart Organization and DAV. He spent almost 35 years in the automotive business as a sales manager, then as a wholesale representative. He retired in 2015.
Tom enjoyed playing poker, video games and was a huge movie buff. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed listening to Elvis. One of Tom’s greatest joys was playing with his grandchildren.
