Garry L. Propst

December 8, 1973 – November 19, 2023

Garry L. Propst, 76, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023. He died of Parkinson’s Disease caused by Agent Orange. He was born on June 30, 1947, to William Lee and Ellouise Propst in Success, Arkansas. Garry married the love of his life, Carmella “Carmen” Carroccia on December 8, 1973. They were happily married for 50 years.
Garry graduated from Harlem High School. He then proudly served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Khe Sanh, Vietnam from 1966-1968. He later started his 27-year career as a Rockford firefighter.

His survivors include his wife, Carmela “Carmen” Propst; children, Ryan (Tara) Propst, Rob (Mindy) Propst; grandchildren, Claire, Grant, and Emma Propst; brother-in-law, Gene ( Nancy) Propst; brother, Allan (Sue) Propst; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Bob, Leonard, Paul, Chad (Carrie) Morgan; neighborhood family and “coffee buddies”. He is preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Emily (Lester) Cook; uncle, Cleave (Nadein) Dehart.
