James Thomas ‘Sparky’ Nangle, Jr

July 16, 1948 – March 3, 2026

James T. Jr. “Sparky”, age 77, of Drexel Hill PA, formerly of Havertown and Philadelphia, died peacefully at home with his loving wife and stepson by his side on March 3, 2026, preceded by his parents, Beatrice and James Sr., his sisters; Beatrice Matteo, Teresa Glotfelty, Marie Nangle and Margaret Bolen, his sisters-in-law Marie Weaverling, Trudy Welch and his brothers-in-law Tim Matteo, Richard Bolen Sr., and Carl Messner.

Survived by his wife, Elaine (nee Ellinger), his stepson George Ellinger, his grandson Noah and his brother-in-law James Glotfelty, many loving relatives, especially nieces and nephews, friends, and fellow Marines.

Sparky proudly served his country as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He is a decorated veteran and has been awarded many medals which include both the Silver and Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts. He attended the annual Marine Corps reunions, never forgetting the brotherhood. (Semper Fi). Sparky enjoyed gardening and bingo and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.

Rest in peace James Thomas ‘Sparky’ Nangle, Jr.; Echo Company, 2/26; 60 MM mortars.  Recognized for exposing himself to enemy fire on 02/05 and 09/16/1968 to protect his fellow Marines during intense combat.  Wounded at the infamous LZ Margo, he stood his ground throughout life.  Agent Orange strikes yet again.  May an all-knowing, all-loving, all-powerful, all-merciful, all-forgiving God wrap you in his strong arms and hold you next to his tender breast for all eternity.
