George F Mullaney

63 years old. Loving husband of the late Patricia. Stepfather to Douglas (Jacqueline) Siebert, David Siebert, Linda Winkel and the late Deborah Puglisi. Brother of Joan Slack, James & Thomas (Rosemary) Mullaney. Son of the Late George & Ann Mullaney. George was a 1965 graduate of St. Theresa High School where he lettered in football and basketball. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, served two tours in Vietnam with H Co. 2bn., 5th Marines. He took part in the siege of Khe Sanh & the battle to take Hue. He spent months in the jungles of Vietnam exposed daily to Agent Orange which eventually took his life 41 years later. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart 2/OLC, along with good conduct, national defense and Vietnam service medals. He was a fireman with the city of Detroit from 1969 to 1979 when he was disabled while fighting a house fire. He was a true gentle giant who loved dogs & spent many years enjoying his grandchildren, He was well read & known as a knowledgeable conservationist & enjoyed discussing sports, current events & history. His sense of humor and warm mannerism was enjoyed by many. His years of illness were made tolerable by the care of his stepchildren where he remained positive and pleasant.
