KVS News: Short Round 016
2025 Vietnam Memorial Veterans Day Ceremonies, Washington, DC
This year on Veterans Day 2025, Khe Sanh Veterans continued the legacy of laying a wreath during the annual Veterans Day Ceremonies at The Wall in DC. This legacy began in 1986 when several Khe Sanh US Army vets began laying handmade wreaths (for KIA Dusters, Quad 50s, Searchlights and Khe Sanh Veterans) during ceremonies at The Wall.
In 1996 after attending my first Army Dusters, Quads & Searchlights reunion in April at Ft. Bliss, TX and my first Khe Sanh Veterans July reunion in Philadelphia, I agreed to join the group of wreath layers at the Veterans Day ceremonies in DC. Along with many Army and Marine veterans, we have continued this honorary annual practice for over 30 years, missing only the ceremony cancelled during the Covid epidemic.
Of note this year, Bruce Geiger, a Past President & Board member of NDQSA and Khe Sanh Veterans Board Member was asked by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund to lead the audience at the Wall in the Pledge of Allegiance. (Links to the entire VVMF ceremony and a link to a video clip of Bruce’s part of the ceremony are posted below.)
KSV members, who would like the honor of participating in a future Veterans Day wreath laying ceremony, have an open invitation to join by simply contacting Bruce Geiger in advance of Veterans Day.
