Hubert Joski
November 2, 1948 – December 14, 2019
Hubert “Hub” John Joski, 71, passed away at home with family by his side on Saturday, December 14, 2019. He was born in Green Bay on November 2, 1948, to the late Walter and Bertha (Conard) Joski. Hubert was a graduate of Premontre High School. He initially enrolled in college, but answered the call for his country enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam from July 26, 1967, until his Honorable Discharge on February 5, 1969, during his time he was exposed to Agent Orange, which was a major contributor to his health complications later in life. Hubert earned a Purple Heart and his unit received the Presidential Unit Citation for their bravery during the 77-day siege at Khe Sanh, during the Tet Offensive. Following his service to our country, Hub met Nancy Vande Hei and they were married at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church in Green Bay on February 7, 1970. They were just under two months away from celebrating 50 loving years together. Hub was a proud veteran and was involved with many local groups and events such as the VVA Chapter 224, AmVets, and the Bikeathon. He drove his ’67 Kaiser Jeep in parades to honor Vietnam Veterans. In 1988, he was a part of the groundbreaking at The High ground Veteran’s Memorial Park in Neillsville, WI, and following he was also instrumental in the placing of the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial at the Neville Museum in Green Bay.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Joski; daughters, Joelle (Keith) Hocutt, Zebulon, NC, Angela (Gary Harrast) Joski, Williams Bay, WI, Theresa (Joseph) Munoz, Green Bay, Janee (Vincent) Zawlocki III, Green Bay; grandchildren, Jonathan, Vinnie, Montana, Alec, Makayla, Sienna, Jack, Nolan, Fiona, Tony, Dylan, and Naudia; brothers, Glenn (Jan) Joski, Greg (Joey) Joski, Dan (Linda) Joski; sister, Anna Mae (Larry) Phillips; sisters-in-law, Ethel Gross, Carolyn Joski, and Karen Joski; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Hubert was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth, Wayne, and Timothy; mother and father-in-law, Earl and Dorothy Vande Hei; sisters-in-law, Janice Vande Hei, Carol Brown, and Lisa Vande Hei; along with his good friend, Ron Horkman.
