John P. Brickley, Brigadier General (ret), United States Marine Corps, passed away peacefully and quietly in Arlington, MA, on the morning of Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Maureen (Mahoney) Brickley, son Paul and his wife Kelly of Arlington, VA; daughter Cara of Charlestown, MA; son Patrick and his wife Lonnie of North Reading, MA; grandchildren Anne, Caroline, Julia and Luke; and extended family and loved ones. John was born in Somerville, MA and raised there and Winchester, MA. He graduated from BC High in 1956 and from the College of the Holy Cross in 1961. His Marine Corps career includes a tour with 26th Marines at Khe Sanh, Vietnam, where he was injured and received the Bronze Star medal; as Commanding Officer, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines; as Commanding Officer, 8th Marine Regiment; and as Executive Assistant to the Commandant of the Marine Corps and to the Secretary of the Navy.
