SGT. Michael James Guess

May 6, 1949 – September 11, 2015

MADISON, WISC/JERSEYVILLE- Sgt. Michael James Guess, 66, of Madison, Wis., chose to rest on Sept. 11, 2015, with his family at his side. He was born on May 6, 1949, in Reno, Nev., son of Gerald “Jerry” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Shaw) Guess. He is survived by his wife and love of thirty-five years, Debora Guess; his children, Brian, Adam and Nicole Guess; his beloved grandchildren, Anna and Natalie Guess; his siblings, John Yablonski, Terry Guess Mckee, Rusty Guess, Vincent Guess and Daniel Guess; and his best friend, Oscar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Betty. Immediately following his high school graduation from Madison East.

He entered boot camp in San Diego; Calif. Michael proudly served in the USMC from 1967-1970, which included a tour in Vietnam earning him two Purple Hearts at the Battle of Khe Sanh. He will forever be a member of C 1/9, The Walking Dead.

He cherished his family, friends, anything produced in Marine Corps camouflage, his eclectic collection of vehicles, the Wisconsin Badgers, going to your left and following your shot. Michael impacted the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but remembered daily by the memories and inspiration he left behind. Semper Fi, Sergeant Guess.
