Donald O’Neal Fox
June 8, 1936 – February 10, 2024
Donald O’Neal Fox was born on June 8, 1936, in Sheridan, Wyoming to John and Ruth Fox. He started his education in Sheridan and later moved to Casper where he graduated from Natrona County High School with the class of 1954. He joined the U.S. Airforce in June of 1954. During his military service he was married to Aletha Dillingham in Oklahoma. He received an honorable discharge in December of 1957 and went to work in construction and help to build Pathfinder Dam. He later moved to Sheridan and worked at Dan’s Western Wear. In 1958 they moved to Jeffrey City, Wyoming where Don went to work for Western Nuclear Corporation and was a maintenance supervisor. He retired from Western Nuclear in 1980 and started his own construction reclamation business. In 1990 he moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where he owned and operated the Buffalo Bar on Mainstreet until it closed. Don continued living in Buffalo until his death.
Don was a member of the Elks Club and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and spending time in the mountains. He was very active as a volunteer fire fighter in Jeffrey City and Fremont County, Wyoming.
He is survived by one son Wayne Fox and his wife Ellen of Muddy Gap, Wyoming; one daughter Sheila Lopez and her husband Marcel of Lander, Wyoming; one granddaughter, Abra D. Rusher; one grandson Bryce E. Lopez and one great-grandson Merrik A. Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
