Steven J. Fairbrother

Steven J. Fairbrother, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Richland Hospital. He was born on March 28, 1948, in Hillsboro, WI, the son of Merwin and Doris (Johnson) Fairbrother.

Steve served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Khe Sanh during the Viet Nam War. He was married on August 19, 1969, to the former Martha Carroll Hughes. Steve was a Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy for 32 ½ years. He loved feeding birds, grooming his lawn, taking care of his pets, watching all sports and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his 3 children, Mary (Tony) Dobbs of Blue River, Stephanie (Jason) Miller of Valton, WI, Suzanne Fairbrother of South Carolina, 11 grandchildren, Stevie Hill, Tristan Wallace, Jamie Orr, Morgan Dobbs, Amber Dobbs, Ciera Baldwin, Mercedes Anderson, Samantha Troxel, Andrew McManus, Mackenzie Nichols, Jaiden Bailey, many great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merwin and Doris Fairbrother and his wife, Martha Fairbrother.
