Robert Leroy Eckenrod

Robert Leroy “Eric” Eckenrod (72) of Ashtabula passed on Oct. 4, 2021, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.

Born March 23, 1949, in Cleveland Ohio, he was the son of Walter and Christine (Deak) Eckenrod.

Eric graduated from Edgewood St. high School class of 1967 and attended the University of Buffalo when he returned home from the military. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1970, fighting for his country in the Vietnam War, battle of Khe Sanh.

He enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavs. I loved the sunshine of summer days and would get in his Camero and drive around all day listening to the oldies station. He was a storyteller and loved to share his memories and experiences with his family. Eric was always on call away for his kids, and the proudest to carry the title of Dad and United States Marine.

Survivors include his wife Barbara L. Eckenrod whom he married on March 5, 1977, children Lexy Laughlin and Kurt Eckenrod, grandchildren Abriel, Austin, Jaylee, and Ashlee, great grandson Chancellor.
