DEARING, RICHARD M., 58, died on January 23, 2007. Rick was born in Orlando October 13, 1948. He is a graduate of Edgewater H. S. and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rollins College. Rick was predeceased by his parents, Col. and Mrs. Hugh Dearing of Orlando.
He served in the US Marine Corps and was a combat veteran of the siege at Khe Sanh, Vietnam. Rick was in C/1/26 from January 1968 until February 1969 and at Khe Sanh the entire duration of the siege. Rick finished his tour on the crew of Marine One, the presidential helicopter.
He then pursued a career in law enforcement, serving with the Sanford PD and Seminole County SO. He retired from the Drug Enforcement Agency after 27 years of meritorious service and at the time of his death was employed by Booz, Allen, Hamilton in Washington, DC, and resided in Manassas, VA.
Rick is survived by his wife, Laura, and his daughter, Kelly in Manassas; brother, Hugh of Wake Forest, NC; brother, Dana and his wife Cheryl of Ocala, FL; brother, Roger and his wife Candace of Bradenton, FL; and his nieces, nephews, close family and friends.
