Craig John Simmons, 75, of New Derry, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. He was born on February 6, 1948, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Henry and Lois (Rodgers) Simmons. Craig grew up in Lawrenceville and was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School, as well as the University of Pittsburgh.

Craig was a Veteran of the United States Navy and as a Corpsman served during the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart during the battle of Khe Sanh. He worked for over 33 years as a Social Worker at Torrence State Hospital.

He was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish in Latrobe and the Derry Rod and Gun Club. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and riding his Harley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Randy C. Simmons, and his brothers, Henry and Terry Simmons. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda L. Butler; his son, Robin A. Simmons and his wife Kelly (Ianni) Simmons; his grandchildren, Olivia, and Anthony “Tony” Simmons; his brother John and his wife Diane; sister-in-law Sue (Simmons) Vogel and husband Rich; sister-in-law Pam Simmons; his brother Mike and his wife Peg; and brother-in-law Bill and his wife Deb.
