Richard G. “RC” Cain

Richard G. “RC” Cain, 64 of Monongahela, (River Hill) died unexpectedly in his home Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Born December 14, 1949, in New Eagle, he was the son of Charles R. Sr. and Louise L. (Staffen) Cain. RC was a U.S. Marine Vietnam veteran having served during the 1968 siege of Khe Sanh. He was honored to have served with Lt. James Jones who later became Commandant of the Marine Corps. RC was invited to his induction ceremony in Washington D.C. General Jones later became NATO Commander and was the first National Security Advisor for President Obama.
While serving in Vietnam, Richard was wounded twice and awarded two purple hearts. Richard was a 1967 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and a member of River Hill Church of Christ. He was previously employed at the former Liggetts Spring and Axle and Combustion Engineering in Monongahela, and most recently retired from the Army Corps of Engineers, Lock 3 Dam. A member of the Houston American Legion Post #0902, he enjoyed golfing, watching NASCAR racing and the Steelers with his many friends at Blaine Hill BBQ in Monongahela. Surviving are a sister Elva (Allen) Boissin, two brothers Charles R. Jr. (Shirley) Cain and Raymond H. (Sharyn) Cain all of Forward Twp., numerous nieces and nephews, two great nieces, two great nephews and one great-great nephew.
