Joseph P. Abrams

October 13, 1947 – July 2, 2024

On Tuesday, July 2nd at 7:21 pm, we said goodbye to our husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. Joseph Paul Abrams was born on October 13, 1947, and was relieved of duty on July 2, 2024. He was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Abrams.

 

Joseph was a United States Marine in Vietnam from 1966-1968 and one of the few surviving Marines from the Battle of Khe-Sanh; he came home and became a Long Island Railroad Police officer in NYC for 27 years.

 

He lived a remarkable life marrying his sweet pea, Sandy Abrams, whom he met while working as she walked through Jamaica station. After searching for her in Guatemala, he found her, and they were married 1 year later. They have been married for 49 years.

 

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his brother Steven (wife, Sharon), his children, Joey (wife, Liz), Paul (wife, Julie); Charles (wife, Danielle); Daughter, Krystal. He is also survived by his grandchildren Isabella (her mother, Melissa) Gianna, Gabriella, Rocco, Joey, Sofia, Nicolas, Ava, Lorenzo, Luke, Olivia, Josephine, and Franco.
